Speaking to the Club from the Netherlands overnight, Goodwin said: “I’d like thank all the Adelaide United fans for their support over the last two years.

“It’s been an amazing two seasons and to finish on a high by winning the double with my teammates, but also winning the Members’ Player of the Year award and the Aurelio Vidmar Club Champion Award, it’s a great honour for me as a local boy.

“I also want to thank the coaching staff and everyone involved with the Club because they’ve all been fantastic towards me.

“I’ve said before, the team last season was the best team I’ve played with, but they’re also the best group of people.

“It’s been two years that I’ll never forget because I won trophies with my hometown club and helped to make history with them as well.

Craig Goodwin has officially departed Adelaide United for Dutch club, Sparta Rotterdam.

“I’m 24 years old and I’ve gained some great experience in the A-League, but I feel it’s time to try my luck in Europe and try and progress as a player as much as possible.

“I’ve always had aspirations to play at the highest level possible and I feel like this is the step that I need to take to also represent my country on a regular basis too.”
