‘I Couldn’t Be Happier’: Pierias on Settling In, Family, and the A-League Buzz

United Media sat down with new signing Dylan Pierias to check in on his preseason preparations and how he’s settling into life in Adelaide.

Reflecting on the club’s extensive preseason, Dylan feels confident that the team is well-prepared for the season ahead as we prepare to face the Champions, Central Coast Mariners, on Saturday afternoon.

Dylan shared his thoughts on the long but productive preseason:

“Preseason has been really good. Obviously, it’s been the longest one ever, which can be a bit frustrating at times, but I think the coaching staff have done an excellent job keeping us sharp by organising plenty of games. We’ve played 15 matches, with only one week where we didn’t have a game. That’s kept us competitive and in great shape. Now, we’re just excited to get to our first round and show what we’ve been working on during preseason.”

He went on to talk about how warmly he’s been welcomed by the team:

“I feel like I’ve settled in really well. The boys have welcomed me from day one, and I’ve made some great friends here. It’s a really good group, including the coaching staff. I love the club and its strong family-oriented, people-first culture, which has been amazing for me. As for my role, I’m a pretty versatile player.”

Dylan then explained his transition to a new position on the field:

“I came in as a winger, but with a spot opening up at fullback, more of an attacking wing back role, Carl trusted me to step in. I think I’ve done well so far. Honestly, wherever Carl wants me to play this season—whether it’s fullback, wingback, or winger—I’m happy to do it. I just want to play and contribute, so we’ll see how it unfolds during the season.”

A true fan of the A-League, Dylan shared his enthusiasm for the competition:

“I’m a massive fan of the A-League and have always been. I genuinely love the league and watch every game—no joke, that’s just me. What really stood out for me recently were the crowds. There’s a buzz around the A-League this year that I haven’t seen in a long time. It was great to see Auckland sell out with 26,000 fans, which was awesome, and the other games had strong crowds as well. It’s really exciting to see that.”

He also expressed his eagerness to play in front of the Adelaide fans at Coopers Stadium:

“I’m really excited. Coopers Stadium has always been a place I loved playing at, even when I was with other clubs. Whenever I saw an away fixture against Adelaide United, I knew it would be a great game with an amazing atmosphere. I still think it has the best atmosphere in the country. I can’t wait to get out there and play for the Reds—the fans are so passionate, and I’m just really excited for the experience.”

Finally, Dylan shared a personal highlight, his growing family and love for Adelaide:

“I’m absolutely loving Adelaide. My partner, Ella, and I recently welcomed our baby girl, Ariette, and she’s been an absolute dream. We love her to bits, and as many parents know, it’s the best feeling in the world. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier. Sharing this moment in Adelaide has been special—it’s a great city, and I’m really enjoying my time here.”
