Adelaide United Head Coach Adrian Stenta spoke to United Media prior to his side’s Round 3 clash against the undefeated, Canberra United.
Stenta on building the positive momentum of securing the side’s first win, clean sheet, and Emily Condon’s Goal of the Week in Round Two:
“We’ve spoken about trying to be as consistent as we can and continuing to look for opportunities to grow, because there’s still some things that came out of the games over the first two weeks that we want to try and work on and improve. So, just aiming for consistency as it doesn’t really mean much unfortunately if you can’t back it up.”
Stenta on previous high-scoring affairs between Adelaide and Canberra and limiting the impact of Heyman and Markovski:
“They’ve started the season really well. It would be nice if both of them didn’t play, but that’s not going to happen, because Michelle always seems to score against us! But, we feel confident in the way that we can defend the ground and then hopefully create some opportunities to hurt them on the other end. We know it’s going to be a difficult challenge, but it’s one that we’re definitely up for.”
Stenta on Abby Clarke’s debut in Round Two:
“Abby has been great since she’s been with us. It’s a big move for her at such a young age, so she is still finding her feet a little bit, but we’re really happy to have her in our environment. We see her as a key attacking threat that can do some positive things for us, particularly in our front third.”
Stenta on a heavy away fixture schedule to start the season:
“It’s not really something I’ve thought about too much. We are really just focused on the next training session and the next game. It’s a bit of a boring answer and a standard answer from a coach, but we enjoy playing wherever we’re playing, so we know that it’s always a good game out in Canberra. They’re really well supported and McKellar Park is always a good place to go and play as well. We’re really looking forward to the challenge that this week is going to bring and we’ll deal with further weeks down the road.”
