Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, was visibly deflated in his post-match press conference after his side’s 3-3 draw with Melbourne City and the serious injury sustained to midfielder, Juande.
The injury occurred shortly after Juande was brought onto the field as a second half substitute, the Spaniard being forced to wait approximately 30 minutes for an ambulance to arrive at the stadium and take him to hospital for further assessment.
Speaking to media, Veart reiterated his and the entire Club’s support behind a valued and much-loved member of the Reds family.
Veart said:
“Our full support is with Juande and his family.
“This is something you don’t ever want to witness on a football field.
“It was hard to see and it was hard to wait that long for him to get removed from the pitch.
“I’m just devastated for him.
“We’re all in a bit of shock and it might take a little while for us to get over.
“When you see one of your mates get seriously injured like that, it’s going to take a little while for the playing group to get over that.
“Javi is quite an emotional guy and loves everyone.
“He will take this fairly hard because (Javi and Juande) have a great relationship.
“Juande has a great relationship with all the players and he’s such a great character.
“All we know is that he’ll have to have surgery tonight and hope that it goes well.”
