Adelaide United Head Coach Adrian Stenta shared key updates as the team prepares for their tough away match against Brisbane Roar. Stenta discussed squad recovery, the competition’s tough conditions, and his expectations for the match. Here’s what Stenta had to say:
Stenta on recovering after tough conditions in Newcastle and Wellington…
“We’ve come off a big week with two away games and some tough conditions. We gave the players a couple of days off at the start of the week to freshen up, and they’ve responded well. We’re in a good position physically and mentally and ready for the challenge against Brisbane.”
Stenta on Erin Healy’s recovery and potential return…
“Erin has been able to participate fully in training this week and has put her hand up for selection. We have a lot of good players to choose from, which gives me great flexibility. It’s a good position to be in, and we’re looking forward to having her back if selected.”
Stenta on the difficulty of playing in Brisbane…
“It’s never easy to go to Brisbane, and they’ve had a great start to the season. They’ve been high-scoring and playing an entertaining style of football. With their strong fan support, it’s always a tough place to play. But we’re excited about the opportunity to face such a challenge.”
Stenta on the atmosphere and Brisbane’s fan support…
“I can’t understand why they haven’t redeveloped a venue like Perry Park because it’s a perfect fit for Brisbane Roar. When you have fans in a venue that size, they make a huge difference. The atmosphere there will be fantastic, and we’re really looking forward to it.”
Stenta on the depth of the squad and tactical flexibility…
“We’ve got a lot of depth in the squad, and that’s been a huge benefit this year. We’re able to be more tactically flexible from week to week, which is something that has really made a difference. Players are putting pressure on the starting positions, which is great for the team’s overall performance.”
Stenta on the rehab of Dylan Holmes and Isabel Hodgson…
“Both Dylan and Izzy are making positive strides in their rehab. Dylan should be able to start putting her hand up for selection soon, and we’re looking to build match minutes for her. Izzy is a little further behind, but not far off. It’s really encouraging to have such positive progress from both of them, and with the squad almost fully healthy, it’s going to be even harder to pick a team, which is a great problem to have.”
