Adelaide United signs Taranto twins for 2025/26 Ninja A-League season

Adelaide United is thrilled to announce the signing of twin sisters, Melissa and Adriana Taranto, on one-year deals from Western United.

The 26-year-old midfielders bring a wealth of A-League Women’s experience to the Reds, ranking amongst Western United’s all-time appearance makers — Melissa with 61 appearances and Adriana with 55. Both have also represented Australia at youth level, with Adriana making her senior Matildas debut earlier this year against Panama.

Having made their professional debuts at just 16, the Taranto twins have established themselves as proven performers in the competition and are set to provide invaluable quality to Adelaide United’s women’s squad.

Adriana is recognised for her strong attacking mindset, with the ability to unlock defences and score goals, while Melissa is known for her excellent positioning, composure, and ball retention. Together, they bring a balance of attacking and defensive qualities that will further strengthen the Reds’ midfield.

Adriana Taranto said:

“I’m so excited to sign with Adelaide United for this season. This is a club that has given me another opportunity to grow as both a player and a person in the A-Leagues. I’ve always admired Adelaide United and the high standards they set. I can’t wait to step onto the field with this amazing group of girls and make more history for the club. I’m also really eager to meet the fans and hopefully help bring silverware to Adelaide this season.”

Melissa Taranto said:

“I’m truly honoured and grateful for the opportunity to join Adelaide United. This marks an exciting new chapter in my career, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s success both on and off the pitch. I can’t wait to get started, to give my all for the club, and to play in front of such passionate supporters.”

Head of Football, Marius Zanin, said:
