Adelaide United is delighted to announce the re-signing of forward, Adriana Jones, for the Westfield W-League 2017/18 season following the striker putting pen to paper on a new contract this week.
Jones, who first lined up for Adelaide United last season, will re-join the Reds for the upcoming Westfield W-League 2017/18 season.
In a breakout season for the pacey forward, Jones bagged nine goals for United, including a classy hat-trick in the Club’s 10-2 win over the Western Sydney Wanderers.
Following the completion of the Westfield W-League 2016/17 season, Jones secured a deal with Guangzhou-based outfit, Zhuhai Suoka Guangdong Football Club, in China.
Adelaide United’s Head Coach, Ivan Karlović, said the reacquisition of Jones after her stellar season last campaign will see the Reds retain some invaluable firepower.
“Last season the W-League saw just how lethal Adriana can be,” Karlović said. “She is a clinical finisher with plenty of pace and is always a threat in front of goal.
“Re-signing Adriana is a great step by the Club and reaffirms our strength in the top half of the squad.
“Adriana would have acquired some great experience playing in China and I’m sure she will come back to Adelaide fresh and ready to score plenty more goals for us like she did last year.”
Jones said she was thrilled to have returned to the Reds ahead of the upcoming campaign.
“I’m feeling exited and secure to have re-signed with the Club and to come back to a familiar place after China,” Jones said.
“And I’m looking forward to the upcoming season and performing to my best potential and hopefully as a team we can make finals.”
Jones also believed the experience in China will improve her as a footballer, after scoring 13 goals with Zhuhai Suoka Guangdong.
“China has been a huge learning experience and extremely challenging both physically and mentally.
“But the experience will make me stronger, fitter and humbled for this upcoming W-league season.”
