Adelaide United youngster, Nestory Irankunda, has described the “amazing” sensation he felt after receiving the call-up to the Socceroos.

Speaking to media at Coopers Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, Irankunda expressed the waves of emotions to be selected as a train-on for the Australian National Team’s upcoming friendlies against Ecuador.

Getting the call:
“It felt amazing.

“When I got the phone call, I was a bit shocked.

“I didn’t think it would come this early, but I’m just happy that they’ve given me an opportunity to go with the squad.

“It’s nothing (too) crazy, for me.

“Obviously, this is football, so it does happen.

“I guess I’m just really confident right now.

“My confidence is really high, so I’ll just try my best on the field and off the field.”

Potentially pulling-on the Socceroos shirt:
“If I do play against Ecuador, I just want to try my hardest to get a goal and help the team out.

“It would be a really good opportunity for me and for my family and everybody else in the club, me playing for the Socceroos at such a young age.

“Hopefully (Graham Arnold) does (put me on) and I do do well and it happens to me.”

The Coopers faithful:
“(The fans) make me feel amazing.

“I love the fans here and they make me feel like I’m at home, 100 per cent.

“We love playing at home because it gives us hype and everything.

“We go our hardest when we play at home, even when we play away, but home is just different.”
