Despite throwing pressure and dominating possession in the second half, Adelaide United fell 1-2 to Newcastle Jets in Round 5 of the Westfield W-League 2017/18 season at Marden Sports Complex on Saturday night.

Danielle Colaprico started after returning to the squad, while Sarah Willacy was in goals to replace Eliza Campbell, who is currently on Matilda’s duty.

Katie Stengel opened the scoring, with a smart lob over Reds ‘keeper, Sarah Willacy after she was played through by Cortnee Vine.

The Jets then doubled their lead through Victoria Huster, with a curling free-kick.

United defender, Katie Naughton, was immense throughout the clash, and capped off her solid performance with a header off Colaprico’s set-piece.

The host pushed for the leveller, and despite holding most of the possession, were not able to find the back of the net.
