Adelaide United can confirm that talented South Australian defender, Giuseppe Bovalina, has signed for MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps for an undisclosed fee.
Bovalina signed a scholarship contract with the Reds in September 2023 after impressing in the RAA NPLSA and was an integral part of the 2024 RAA NPLSA Championship-winning squad.
He made his senior debut for United in August 2023 in the Australia Cup against Northcote City, and then made his league debut in October 2023. Giuseppe has made a total of 21 Isuzu-UTE A League Men’s appearances and 52 RAA NPLSA appearances in his tenure with the Reds.
‘Bova’ started his footballing journey with Western Strikers before having a four-year spell at Croydon FC. He then stepped into the Football SA NTC program, where he played from Under 13’s to Under 18’s before transitioning into the Adelaide United Youth team.
A grateful Bovalina thanked the Club and his previous coaches for helping the defender get to this point in his career.
“I am extremely excited for the next chapter in my football career, and I am so grateful for the support the club has given me to this point,” he said.
“While I have worked extremely hard on and off the pitch, I would like to thank Carl, Airton, and the Adelaide United coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to flourish on the biggest stage of Australian football.
“I would also like to thank Western Strikers, Croydon FC, and the coaches I have worked with in the Football SA NTC program.”
