Brisbane Roar defeat Adelaide United in Sunday showdown

Stop Bente Jansen if you can. The Netherlands international’s two-goal haul guided Brisbane Roar to a 3-1 victory away to Adelaide United in the Ninja A-League.

Dutch star Jansen took her tally to joint league-high five goals for the season thanks to Sunday’s brace at Coopers Stadium, where Roar captain and CommBank Matildas midfielder Tameka Yallop succumbed to injury in the first half.

Brisbane’s Grace Kuilamu set the tone with her 29th-minute opener in South Australia.
Jansen made it 2-0 in first-half stoppage time as the visiting Roar seized control heading into the interval.

Adelaide got themselves back into the contest thanks to Erin Healy’s stunning long-range strike six minutes into the second period.

However, Jansen’s second goal of the evening restored Brisbane’s lead and ensured they bounced back from last week’s shock defeat to Western Sydney Wanderers.

It is also the most goals Brisbane have scored away to Adelaide since a 4-1 victory in 2018.
