Captain Kitto Extends Contracts With Adelaide United Until 2026/27

Adelaide United is delighted to announce that Captain Ryan Kitto has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the Club until the end of the 2026/27 season, with an option for a third year.

Kitto, 30, has been a stalwart of the Reds since joining from Newcastle Jets in 2016. The South Australian-born defender has made 214 appearances and scored 18 goals during his time at the Club, and was appointed captain ahead of the 2023/24 season.

A proud product of Adelaide, Kitto previously played for Adelaide United Youth Team in 2013/14 and earned the prestigious Sergio Melta Medal while at WT Birkalla, further demonstrating his deep connection to the local football community.

Since donning the famous #7 shirt, Kitto has established himself as a key figure in the squad, contributing both on and off the pitch. His leadership has been instrumental in Adelaide United’s recent successes, including lifting the Australia Cup (formerly FFA Cup) twice with the Reds.

Speaking on his extension, Kitto expressed his gratitude and excitement:

“I feel incredibly privileged to continue playing for my hometown Club. I don’t take it for granted, and it’s an honour to wear the captain’s armband and lead this team.

To be able to commit for another two years is something I’m thrilled about, and I will continue to give everything I can for Adelaide United.

I also look forward to mentoring and inspiring the next generation of players coming through the ranks.”

Adelaide United Head of Football, Marius Zanin, highlighted Kitto’s importance to the Club:

“Ryan is part of the Adelaide United DNA and truly understands what it means to represent the Reds.

“He plays an integral role in our leadership team and has much to offer, both on and off the pitch.

“His passion for this Club and commitment to nurturing younger players make him an invaluable asset to our long-term vision,” Zanin concluded.

Adelaide United is excited to see Ryan continue his journey with the Club and looks forward to his contributions in the upcoming seasons.
