V.I.P. Australia Founding Chairman Bill Vis, who established the popular franchise in Adelaide in 1972, believes aligns with the traits and qualities captains and leaders of teams are renowned for.
“We were very keen on the captain sponsorship because captains are leaders of teams and at V.I.P. we are a leader of a thousand franchises who specialise in home cleaning and lawn mowing, so we are captains in our own right and that-s why we-re very keen sponsoring coaches and captains,” Vis said.
Displaying the V.I.P. logo on his shirt collar, newly appointed Reds captain Jon McKain met Vis for the first time on the weekend, and the V.I.P. Chairman backs up the central defender-s selection.
“I think it has got to be a win-win situation for both and I think it can be and looks like it is going to be because having met Jon only for a short time, he did a very good job with the media conference, he sounds very knowledgeable and he-s played in other countries and at other clubs, so he is going to be a great asset for Adelaide United,” Vis said.
In what is the first time V.I.P. Australia has associated itself with a Hyundai A-League club, Vis is excited about the opportunities and exposure the partnership will provide for the franchise throughout the season.
Despite being a self confessed AFL (Australian Rules football) follower who also has a great interest in ice hockey, Vis looks forward to experiencing the excitement and atmosphere that is guaranteed to surround Adelaide United and the Hyundai A-League in what is the most anticipated season yet.
“I-m an ice hockey player myself and an AFL supporter, but I-ve always had an interest in football and I am getting pretty pumped and looking forward to coming down to Hindmarsh and watching the games during the year,” Vis said.
