Clough: We deserved the win

Adelaide United midfielder, Zach Clough, says he and his teammates deserved the three points earned against Western United on Saturday afternoon.

Adelaide United midfielder, Zach Clough, says he and his teammates deserved the three points earned against Western United on Saturday afternoon.

Clough was amongst the goalscorers in a man of the match performance in Round 16 of the Isuzu UTE A-League.

Speaking post-game, Clough said the Reds’ second half performance warranted the victory, after a lacklustre opening 45 minutes.

Clough said:
“I think we probably got all we deserved in the end, after the sloppy first half.

“We made it hard for ourselves, we went to 2-0, but we showed character, that we did last season as well.

“We never give up, we’re fit, we’re a strong team, and we have good players like Nestory (Irankunda) on the pitch and Josh Cavallo to come on affect the game.

“They did really well when they came on and pushed on to get the three points.

“I feel like we’ve been playing well.

“A couple of games, we’ve probably not got what we deserved.

“We probably could have added a few more points on the board and being closer to the top team in Melbourne city, but we’re happy with the three points today and we keep pushing now.”
