“Confidence is high, belief is high” – Stenta ready to launch Finals campaign

Adelaide United Head Coach, Adrian Stenta, says his side is embracing the moment ahead of Sunday’s historic Elimination Final at Coopers Stadium against Western United.

With confidence soaring and momentum behind them, the Reds Women are aiming to make club history in just their second-ever Finals appearance after a remarkable turnaround campaign.

Stenta on belief heading into Finals football
“I think this group can go all the way — we’re as good a chance as anyone in the top six. We’ve been consistent all season, no matter who we’ve played or what’s been at stake. That mentality is something we’ve built from day one, and it’s helped us push through tough moments and show up in big games. Sunday is a massive occasion, but we’ll treat it like we have every other week — with focus, belief, and a clear plan to win. Confidence is high, belief is high, and we’ll throw everything at this game.”

Stenta on the impact of Fiona Worts and United’s attacking threats
“Fiona’s in great form and has been all season, but it’s the way we’ve managed her return from injury that’s made the difference. She’s fresh, she’s confident, and she knows she has the freedom to express herself. What’s really helped is the support around her — we’ve got threats all over the park, and when one player isn’t firing, someone else steps up. That depth in our attack makes us dangerous and unpredictable — and in Finals football, that’s a big weapon.”

Stenta on hosting a home Final and the importance of fan support
“To host a Final at Coopers, it means everything. This is only our second Final in 17 seasons — that’s why it’s so special. And to do it at home, in front of our fans, is something we don’t take for granted. When this stadium is full and loud, it lifts us. We’d love to break the attendance record for a standalone game, and I know the players will respond if we do. This is a team worth watching — I’d encourage anyone thinking about it to come out and be part of something really special.”

Stenta on the turnaround from last season and what it says about the group
“Last year was tough — we finished bottom and it hurt. But we stuck together. Most of this squad and staff were here through that. It just shows what can happen when you get a few things right and commit to the work. From the first day of pre-season, the mentality shifted. The players bought in completely. I’m so proud of what they’ve achieved — they’ve earned this moment, and now we get to go out and chase something big, together.”

Stenta on the value of squad depth and leadership
“I’ve been talking about our depth all year, and I really believe it’s our biggest strength. When you’ve got players like Izzy [Hodgson] coming off the bench, or even missing out on the squad, that says everything. It’s not just about talent, it’s about the attitude they bring. Izzy’s been the ultimate leader — she’s embraced her role and set a great example. That’s the kind of environment we’ve created — one where everyone pushes each other, supports each other, and is ready when their number’s called.”

Stenta on Sarah Morgan’s rise and her quiet consistency
“Sarah has been fantastic. She doesn’t always get the spotlight, but within our group, we know how important she is. She connects so much of what we do — keeps us ticking over and works incredibly hard. Her goal a few weeks back just highlighted the quality she has. She’s settled really well in Adelaide, and I think that stability off the pitch has allowed her to flourish on it. She’s a massive part of our midfield and deserves all the recognition she’s starting to get.”
