Goodwin on the importance of the NPL All Stars match…
“It is the first time that I’ve been involved in this kind of game, but I’m really looking forward to it. I think it’s a great thing to bring Adelaide United and the NPL teams together and improve that connection we have. It’s also a great hit-out for us in pre-season against good opposition.”
On the challenge of facing the All Stars…
“It’s going to be a very tough game in terms of competition, but a good test for us. It will be high intensity, and a lot of players in that group will want to prove themselves. For us, it’s about building on what we’ve done so far in pre-season.”
On his recovery and pre-season fitness…
“The foot’s in a great position. I played an internal game last weekend and got 84 minutes, so I’m in a good spot. Training has been very intense, and the trip to Melbourne was really positive for us. There’s still a lot to improve, but the vibe around the group is very good.”
On playing in front of Reds fans again…
“Very excited, obviously, with the connection I have with the club, the fans, and this state. It’ll be special to get back out there and build on what we’ve done so far. Pre-season has been positive, and with the new boys Anselmo and Juan [Muñiz] coming in, there’s a lot to look forward to.”
On the Socceroos and missing the last camp…
“Of course, I’m always eager to be back with the national team. Missing out due to injury was disappointing, but I was cheering the boys on and delighted they qualified for the World Cup. Seeing the Adelaide boys do so well was fantastic, and I look forward to reconnecting with the group.”
On reuniting with Anselmo…
“I’m delighted he was able to sign, and I look forward to playing with him again. I think the fans are really going to enjoy watching him play this season.”
