Adelaide United forward, Chelsie Dawber, gave her thoughts ahead of Round 3 of the Liberty A-League season.
Dawber, who returned to United on loan from Chicago Red Stars ahead of this domestic season, has started the campaign in fine form, providing two assists for the two match-winning goals Adrian Stenta’s side have scored in Rounds 1 and 2.
Season’s start:
“It’s the greatest start we’ve had in the women’s program at Adelaide United and it’s been great to be part of that.
“But the season has just started and we’re still finding our feet as a team.
“Overall we’re pretty happy with our performances and, analysing my part in those games, I’ve been happy to contribute with a couple of assists.
“Having gone overseas (to play for Chicago Red Stars) and having that opportunity was great for me personally and as a footballer, but being back in Adelaide, playing in front of my family and playing with my friends has been great.
“I feel settled back here at home and I want to keep playing well for the team.”
Glory over Perth:
“It’s always tough playing away from home, but more so travelling to Perth.
“With the Perth trip, you have that longer flight and also the time difference, which we haven’t had to deal with for a little while, so we were prepared for it being a little bit difficult.
“We played a good first 45 minutes and probably should have finished the game off by scoring a few more chances.
“But, overall, I feel we played quite well as a team and were very happy to get the three points.”
Facing Western United:
“It’s going to be a really interesting game this weekend.
“Western United are a new team to the league, so we don’t really know too much about them.
“They’ve started the season well, like us, and are sitting at the top of the table, so it will definitely be an interesting game.
“We’re confident going into it and are ready to put in a good performance in front of our fans for sure.”
