Dynamic Duo: Adelaide United Signs Chelsie Dawber and Fiona Worts for 2024/25 NINJA A-League Women’s Season

Adelaide United is delighted to announce that forwards Chelsie Dawber and Fiona Worts have signed one-year contracts with the Club for the 2024/25 NINJA A-League Women’s season. 

The pair lead the all-time goal-scoring charts for the A-League Women’s side, amassing 41 goals between them.

Chelsie Dawber, 24, has been a key figure for the Reds since her debut in the 2017/18 season, making 65 appearances and scoring 23 goals. Despite an injury in 2018/19, she returned to win the A-League Women’s Rising Star in 2019/20.

Her standout 2021/22 season saw her claim the Reds’ Golden Boot with five goals in eight games. Dawber also excelled in the WNPL, topping the scorer charts in 2019 and 2020, and winning the Shirley Brown Medal in 2021. She has gained international experience with IFK Norrköping in Sweden and the Chicago Red Stars in the NWSL.

Dawber expressed her excitement about continuing with Adelaide United:

“I’m incredibly pleased to be staying with Adelaide United for another season. This Club means so much to me, and I’m excited to continue giving my best to help the team achieve its goals. I can’t wait to get back out there and work with the squad to make this season a successful one.”

Worts, 28, joined United ahead of the 2020/21 season and has made 39 appearances, scoring 18 goals during her three years with the Club. She netted 13 goals in 14 regular-season matches in 2021/22, earning the competition’s Golden Boot and the Julie Dolan Medal.

Fiona joins us after a spell with Sydney FC last season. She has ample experience in Norway with LSK Kvinner, and in England, having represented both Leicester City Women Football Club and Coventry United in the FA Women’s Championship in the second division.

Fiona Worts also shared her feelings about returning to Adelaide United:

“Adelaide has a special place in my heart, and I know this is the right place for me to be at this stage of my career. I’m proud to continue my journey here and can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
