Despite recent media reports to the contrary, young Adelaide United defender Jordan Elsey is eligible be selected to face the Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday at Coopers Stadium.

Elsey scored the stoppage time winner against Brisbane Roar on Saturday and then ran out for the Reds’ Youth Team the following day in which he received two yellow cards and was subsequently sent off.

Adelaide United’s Director of Football Michael Petrillo confirmed Elsey is free to play this week.

“The National Youth League (NYL) Disciplinary Rules state that any A-League contracted player who receives an indirect red card in an NYL match must serve that suspension in that competition which means he will be free to play against the Wanderers,” Petrillo said.

Sunday’s game against the Wanderers kicks off at 4:30pm with a Celebrity match curtain raiser at 2:45pm. Gate open at 2:30pm and tickets are available through Ticketek.
