Emilia Makris returns to Adelaide United

Adelaide United is delighted to announce the return of striker, Emilia Makris, formerly known as Emilia Murray, ahead of the 2025/26 Ninja A-League season on a three-year contract.

Makris, 20, first signed with the Reds in the 2021/22 campaign after progressing through the Football SA elite pathway. She went on to make 29 appearances and score three goals during her initial stint, including a memorable debut strike against Sydney FC in November 2023 at just 18 years of age.

Makris told United Media:

“I’m really excited to be back home. This is the Club that gave me an opportunity as a youngster and I’m looking to repay that over the next few seasons.”

In July 2024, Makris joined Melbourne City, where she featured five times in their unbeaten Ninja A-League season.

Makris’ talent has also been recognised on the international stage. She captained the Young Matildas at the 2022 Pacific Women’s Four Nations Tournament in Canberra and Queanbeyan, and was most recently selected in the squad for the 2024 AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifying campaign. Earlier this year, she made three appearances for the CommBank Young Matildas at the ASEAN Women’s Championship 2025 in Vietnam, scoring once.

Head of Football, Marius Zanin, said he was thrilled to welcome Makris back into the squad:

“We’re delighted to have Emilia return to Adelaide United. She is a player with tremendous ability and maturity for her age, and we believe she has only scratched the surface of her potential,” Zanin said.

“Emilia has already shown she can perform at the top level, and we’re excited to see her flourish once again in the Adelaide United family environment.”

Welcome home, Emilia.
