Adelaide United is delighted to announce the signing of young Australian centre-forward, Archie Goodwin.
Archie joins us from Newcastle Jets on a four-year deal, taking his contract to the end of the 2027/28 season.
Archie became the Newcastle Jet’s youngest player when he made his debut at 16 years and 106 days, who then went on to play 44 matches in the A-League, scoring seven goals.
The right-footed young forward (19), who also made three appearances for the Young Socceroos, spoke about his move to Adelaide.
“I’m really excited to meet all the staff, players and fans,” Archie told AUFC Media.
“The Club has provided great opportunities to young players, and I believe Adelaide United is the place to get the best out of me.
“I am looking forward to banging in goals in front of the Red Army and lighting up Coopers Stadium.”
Among all players currently under 20 years of age in the A-League, Archie is the second-highest goal scorer over the last five seasons with seven goals, behind departing Reds forward, Nestory Irankunda.
Head Coach, Carl Veart, is looking forward to working with Archie.
“I have kept close tabs on him since he debuted for Newcastle Jets and I always believed he was going to play at the highest level,” Veart said.
Head of Football, Marius Zanin, welcomes Archie to the Club.
“We have been monitoring Archie for a while and we are excited to see what he will offer us,” said Zanin.
“Archie is a hardworking, likeable player and person, one that will fit right into our system and philosophy.
“He has shown a lot of potential, and we can’t wait to see him develop here with us.”
