Adelaide United Youth Head Coach, Huss Skenderovic, remains confident that his side can secure all three points against Melbourne Victory in Round 8 of the Foxtel National Youth League at Elite Systems Football Centre on Sunday.

The Young Reds are back in National Youth League action this weekend against Victory, and will be looking to continue their polarising campaign, and be the team to beat come Finals time.

The two sides encountered in Round 3 which saw Adelaide United conquer the Blues in a 4-1 display, courtesy of a magnificent Marc Marino hat-trick and a goal to Captain, Josh Mori.

The Reds will return on the back of a 2-1 triumph over Melbourne City on home turf, while Melbourne Victory went down to Perth Glory, 2-0, in Victoria, as they remain at the foot of the table.

Young Reds Head Coach, Skenderovic, says his side cannot wait to get back into football action, and remain emphatic following a stunning run of victories.

“The boys hadn’t had much of a break, so over the Christmas period they had a chance to regroup and return fresh ahead of the match against Melbourne Victory,” Skenderovic said.

“But they are now back at it, with starting training again this week, but whilst on break, they did have a modified training session so the work didn’t stop completely.

“We are looking forward to our next match at home against Victory, and we will have another good couple of sessions before we play them, but the team are looking good, and I’m confident now after our recent results.”

Despite the flourishing performances, Skenderovic admitted that the Youth must stay disciplined and not become overly complacent, especially if making the Grand Final is envisioned.

“We are quite confident in getting another good result against Victory, but it’s about maintaining the same discipline that is required to win those types of games and not become too complacent,” Skenderovic continued.

“We have a real clear objective of wanting to make the Final so that should put the team in a good mindset to not be complacent to want to win.

“And again, we can’t underestimate our opponent at all, but we will play our football and play with that confidence that we have throughout our season.”

Adelaide United’s Youth Team will take on Melbourne Victory in Round 8 of the Foxtel National Youth League 2016/17 season at the Elite Systems Football Centre on Sunday, 8 January 2017. Kick-off is at 10:30am (ACDT).
