Adelaide United Youth will be on the hunt to get back to winning ways as they face Brisbane Roar Youth in Round 9 of the Foxtel National Youth League 2016/17 season at Elite Systems Football Centre on Saturday.

In a curtain-raiser to the Westfield W-League at Elite Systems Football Centre on Saturday, the Young Reds will be hungry for the crucial three points against the Conference A leaders, where a triumph will see them edge closer to the summit of the league standings.

It is the second meeting between the two sides, last encountering in Round 5 where Adelaide merely fell to Brisbane, coming back from three goals down, to a 3-2 result courtesy of a Ben Warland brace.

Last match day, Adelaide United suffered an unanticipated 0-3 loss to Melbourne Victory, while Brisbane Roar were also under attack, as Perth Glory invaded their home turf with a 0-2 win.

Adelaide United Youth Head Coach, Huss Skenderovic, remains optimistic and confident in his side, despite the heavy loss last week, after a three week break without competing in a match.

“The boys are looking really good, and have regained their confidence after brushing off a few spider-webs in the game against Melbourne Victory,” Skenderovic said.

Adelaide United Youth kick-off at 4:30pm Saturday, 14 January at Elite Systems Football Centre.

“They were quite disappointed in their performance, neither side played exceptionally, but I think we were a bit off due to the break.

“Some players felt like they had let the team down, but we reassured them that was not the case, and we will bounce back.

“Hopefully we produce what we achieved at the start of the season, losing that first game against Melbourne City, and coming back very strong in the few games following, we are confident we can do that again.”

Skenderovic admitted Brisbane Roar Youth are a strong team, and that they will be expecting a tough match against the Conference A leaders.

“Brisbane Roar are a top team, and they will be difficult to beat, but if we execute more of our chances, we can flourish,” Skenderovic continued.

“We have been working hard tactically, to challenge their way of football and stop them from scoring and counter-attacking.”
