Adelaide United’s next challenge in its road towards the Hyundai A-League title will be against Gold Coast United on Sunday 27 February 2011 at Hindmarsh Stadium (Kick-Off 5.00pm ACDT).
The Reds will host the Hyundai A-League-s other ‘United- club after the contenders for the championship were reduced from six to four following Gold Coast-s 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory in the second elimination final earlier today at Skilled Park.
Adelaide United progressed to the next round of the finals series after knocking the Wellington Phoenix out of the finals race courtesy of a Travis Dodd winner last Friday night and will now take on the Gold Coast for the right to meet either Brisbane Roar or the Central Coast Mariners in the Preliminary Final.
The Roar defeated the Mariners 2-0 in the first leg of the major semi final, the return leg to be played in Brisbane on Saturday night. The winner on aggregate over the two games will progress straight through to, and host, the Grand Final.
The Reds won their one and only meeting against Gold Coast United at Hindmarsh Stadium earlier this season with a 2-1 victory back in November, while the teams- other two encounters in 2010/11 finished in nil-all draws at Skilled Park.
Adelaide United earned the right to host Sunday-s knockout fixture having finished above Gold Coast on the table at the end of the minor round.
Tickets for the Reds- encounter against Gold Coast United will go on sale to Adelaide United 2010/11 members at 9am (ACDT) tomorrow (Monday 21 February) until 9pm, before members of the Football Family will have the opportunity to purchase tickets from 9am on Tuesday 22 February.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public from 9am (ACDT) Wednesday 23 February 2011. Tickets are available through Ticketek.
