Goodwin: Our thoughts are with Juande

Adelaide United Captain, Craig Goodwin, spoke to Paramount+’s Michael Zappone following the Reds’ 3-3 draw with Melbourne City.

Goodwin scored United’s third goal in the match – his 50th for the Club – however it wasn’t enough as a late converted penalty from the hosts ensured the points were shared on Sunday afternoon.

The match, though, was marred by a very serious injury suffered to Spanish midfielder, Juande, who injured his leg in a challenge shortly after being brought on as a second half substitute.

Having a short time to gather his thoughts, Goodwin reflected on the match.

Goodwin said:
“For us, it was disappointing to let a 3-1 lead drop, albeit playing against City, who are a top side.

“But then, obviously, our hearts are all with Juande because he’s an important person for our change room and it’s awful to see him with this injury,

“It’s hard to pick yourself up from (such a long break in play), but, at the end of the day, we have to get on with it and try and see out the game.

“It was a silly mistake to give them a penalty and drop two points in my opinion.”
