Charlotte Grant says spending the off-season with the Future Matildas leaves her well prepared for the upcoming Westfield W-League 2019/20 campaign.

Grant re-signed with Adelaide United Women after making her debut last year following a stellar Women’s National Premier League (WNPL) season with NTC.

The 18-year-old said she was thrilled to be back with her hometown team.

“I’m really excited, it’s an honour to be part of such a great club and to play alongside amazing girls,” she said.

“To play for my hometown club is amazing.”

Grant featured in 11 of the 12 matches during the 2018/19 edition and admitted it was wonderful learning experience.

“I learned so much playing in the season last year,” she stated.

“And I think I improved so much as a player playing alongside so many experienced girls and against experienced girls.”

As alluded to, the winger moved to Sydney to be a part of the Future Matildas set up once the Westfield W-League season concluded.

She added that experience has further helped improve her as a player.

“It’s been a great learning experience being part of the Future Matildas,” said Grant, who was also was selected in the Young Matildas squad for a training camp ahead of next month’s AFC U-19 Women’s Championship in Thailand.

“I had the opportunity to train with some of the best players in the country and I’ve really learnt so much from a lot of the girls and I think that will be good going into the W-League season.”

Grant said the Reds will be again focused on trying to seal a top four finish.

“It’s definitely a goal to make the finals and to go all the way to win the league,” she said.

“I think we can do it because we have got such a great group of girls, good stability from last year and then a few additional signings will be important to making the finals.”

In those 11 appearances, Grant started four of those and said her personal goal was to eventually break into the starting XI on a consistent basis.

“I’d love to get more minutes and a goal of mine is to be part of the starting line-up,” she continued.

“So I’ll just keep working and hopefully I can do that.”
