Adelaide United Captain, Isabel Hodgson, spoke to media on Wednesday afternoon at Coopers Stadium, ahead of Sunday’s battle with Melbourne Victory.

With this Sunday bringing the inaugural A-Leagues Pride Cup between the Reds and Victory, Hodgson addressed South Australian media with fellow Captain, Craig Goodwin, to preview the matches.

A-Leagues Pride Cup:
“It’s always a super exciting round and coming off last year, I’m really looking forward to it again

“The shirts look amazing and I’m really excited to walk out in them and see what Melbourne brings and what they offer.

“I think the biggest part is that everyone feels included and everyone can play football.

“And it’s great to show that our club is doing it publicly and wearing these rainbow shirts and getting out onto the field.”

Education is vital:
“Education is important.

“I think it’s one thing to support a minority, but really understanding the struggles that they’ve been through is really important as well before supporting.

“For me, I love that it’s on the public stage.

“I like that we’re getting a bit of notice.

“And maybe this will help someone who’s feeling a bit unsure about themselves.”

Getting a win:
“For us as a team, a win is really important.

“Against a team like Melbourne Victory, it’s always tough, but it’s a winnable game.

“And I think for the team’s confidence and for the team’s rest of season, it’s really important.

“Winning games is what we’re here to do and we’ve been struggling to do that.

“The team (is) playing well, but we’re just struggling to get those three points.

“But I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and I think we can really turn it around.”
