Adelaide United is thrilled to announce that winger and ALW Club legend, Isabel Hodgson has signed a new contract, extending her commitment to the club through to the end of the 2025 season.
Hodgson, who first debuted for the Reds in 2013, continues to be an integral part of the team’s leadership.
The 28-year-old South Australian talent began her journey with Adelaide United as a promising young player before moving to the United States to further her development at East Tennessee State University. Hodgson returned to the Reds for the 2018/19 campaign having an immediate impact, featuring in seven matches and scoring a dramatic equaliser in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Newcastle Jets Women.
Throughout her time with the Reds, Hodgson has showcased her versatility and commitment to the team. During the 2019/20 season, she played predominantly on the wing, scoring one goal across 11 appearances. Last season, Hodgson adapted to a more defensive role, primarily playing as a full-back, where she demonstrated her exceptional skill set by scoring two goals in 12 starts.
Ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, Hodgson’s leadership qualities were recognized as she was appointed the Club’s new Captain, a role in which she has excelled. With 94 appearances and seven goals to her name, Hodgson is set to embark on her tenth season with Adelaide United, solidifying her status as one of the Club’s most experienced and influential players.
Speaking about her new contract, Hodgson said:
“I’m incredibly proud to continue my journey with Adelaide United. This club has always felt like home, and I’m excited for what the future holds as we aim to achieve great things together.
“As a South Australian myself, I’m really passionate about helping the next generation of local talent.
“I’m hungry to be a peer and mentor to the young South Australians in our squad and those coming through the FSA NTC system, and to be a helping hand as they make their mark in the A-League Women’s competition,” Hodgson concluded.
Adelaide United Head of Football, Marius Zanin, expressed his delight at Hodgson’s contract extension, stating:
