Adelaide United is pleased to confirm that promising young goalkeeper Ethan Cox has signed a contract extension with the Club, keeping him in red until the end of the 2028/29 Isuzu UTE A-League Men season.
The 22-year-old has continued to develop into an exciting prospect between the posts, making eight senior appearances since his debut in the 2023/24 season against Central Coast Mariners. Cox recorded his first A-League clean sheet in a memorable 1–0 victory over Melbourne City in February 2025. Ethan is also a key leader in our RAA NPLSA program.

Having joined the Club in 2019 from Football SA’s NTC program, Cox progressed through the local pathway system, gaining valuable experience with Salisbury United and Adelaide Croatia Raiders before establishing himself within Adelaide United’s senior environment.
Ethan Cox said:
“I’m super happy to be staying at the Club. The trust and belief they’ve shown in me means a lot.
“I’m lucky to learn from Eugene [Galekovic] and Josh [Smits] every day – their experience is something I’m really using to keep improving.
“I’ve also worked with Airton and Paul for a long time, so having coaches who trust me and understand my game gives me great confidence to perform.”

Football Director, Mitch van Gellekom, said:
“We’re really proud of Ethan’s progress. He’s developing strongly and continues to improve his game under Eugene’s guidance.
“We’re excited that he’s committed his future to the Club and look forward to seeing his continued growth in the years ahead.”
“Everyone at Adelaide United congratulates Ethan on his contract extension and looks forward to supporting his continued growth at the Club.
