Adelaide United Captain, Craig Goodwin, believes, when the Reds are in their current form, it’s difficult for opposing teams to match up against them.
United currently sits clear second on the Isuzu UTE A-League table, following their 4-2 win over Newcastle Jets on Saturday night.
Goodwin opened the scoring for his side, whilst also provided two assists, helping to send United on their way to a deserved three points.
Speaking post-game to Paramount+, Goodwin said he was pleased with the way he and his teammates when about their match, heaping praise on the young Reds who all contributed to the win.
Goodwin said:
“We knew that Newcastle, generally at home, come flying out of the blocks, so we had to match their intensity.
“Our start was very good, but then a little bit of switching off after we scored a couple goals and letting them back into the game.
“I think we really let them back into the game with the goals that we conceded.
“We’re very happy with the performance and credit to all the young boys that came on.
“The pressing and the intensity in humid weather was was fantastic.
“We’re on a really good run, we’re high in confidence, but like I said to you before the game, we just need to stick true to the way that we want to play football.
“Our intensity, movement, passing we have to really stick to what we believe in and the way we want to play.
“I think if we do that, it’s very difficult for teams to match us.”
