Adelaide United is delighted to announce the re-signing of Michael Jakobsen for the upcoming A-League 2020/21 season.
The Danish centre-back joined the Reds in 2018 and, in his two seasons with United, has accumulated 61 appearances and scored one goal. Jakobsen also won back-to-back FFA Cups in 2018 and 2019 in wins over Sydney FC and Melbourne City FC respectively.
After putting pen-to-paper on a fresh deal, 34-year-old Jakobsen said: “I’m very happy to be staying here at Adelaide United.
“During my time in South Australia, my family and I have fallen in-love with this beautiful State and we couldn’t be happier.
“We made some strong steps forward towards the end of last year and I’m excited to see what we can achieve in the new season.
“I know the boys are looking forward to getting back on the park and so am I, so I can’t wait for pre-season to begin so we can get to work.”
Adelaide United Director of Football, Bruce Djite, said: “We’re very happy to have re-signed Michael for another season.
“He is the ultimate professional and it is clear a lot of players in the squad look up to him.
“To have retained his services for another season is a great coup for the Club.
“I can’t speak highly enough about Michael’s leadership qualities and his positive influence on the group both on and off the pitch.
“Coupled with his on-field ability and experience, it is clear why Michael was always a top priority for the Club and, in particular, Carl (Veart).”
