Makarounas, who notched up his first goal for the club, admitted United‘s performance was not their best, stating improvements will have to be made in order gain the three points in the Reds’ first home game of the year, this Friday.

“I guess it’s nice to get my first goal on debut, but it doesn’t really matter to me who scores, I would have been happier with the three points,” said Makarounas.

“Our focus has now turned to this weekend’s game against Western Sydney on Friday night, which we know will be a tough encounter especially for them (Western Sydney Wanderers) coming off the back of a tough result against Sydney FC in the derby.

“So we need to make sure we work hard on the training track this week and recover well to be ready for the game this Friday.”

Reflecting on his own personal performance and his goal, Makarounas highlighted that the chemistry in the team is building, admitting the team is finding its feet in terms of getting used to each other’s style of play.

“I think after that result there is something definitely good to build on,” he continued.

“A few of the new boys have only just come (to the Club) recently, so I guess we are still getting use to each other as team mates as well as learning and mastering each other’s style of play.

“So I guess it will take a bit of time like every other team, but hopefully this weekend we can work cohesively to defeat the Wanderers and give our fans something to cheer about come Friday evening.”

Adelaide United will face Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 2 of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season on Friday, 14 October 2016 at Coopers Stadium. Kick-off is at 7.20pm ACST.
