Mark Milligan departs Adelaide United for overseas role

Adelaide United can confirm that Assistant Coach Mark Milligan has left the Club, effective immediately, to take up an overseas opportunity.

Milligan, who was appointed as Carl Veart’s assistant in June 2022, has been an integral part of the Reds’ coaching staff for the past two seasons.

His departure will see Airton Andrioli, who will also remain as the Club’s Head of Youth Development, and Travis Dodd jointly assume Milligan’s coaching responsibilities for the remainder of the 2024/25 season, beginning with the Club’s upcoming match against Macarthur FC on Monday night.

Mark reflected on his time at the Club, saying:

“I’ve had the privilege of working with some fantastic players at the Club since my arrival. A huge thank you to the Club for providing an environment where I could grow and develop as a coach, and to Carl and the entire coaching team for their support during my time here. This is a wonderful place to work, for both players and staff.”

“I wish the Club all the best for the upcoming season, and I’ll be cheering on the Reds from afar,” Milligan concluded.

Adelaide United Head of Football, Marius Zanin, said:

“Mark has embraced the Adelaide United culture since arriving at the Club in 2022 and has been a pleasure to have as part of our coaching staff.

“The Club has supported him and his family both on and off the pitch and has watched him grow as a coach during his time here.

“We wish him all the best in this new chapter of his career,” Zanin concluded.

Adelaide United Head Coach Carl Veart expressed his gratitude for Mark Milligan’s contributions over the past two-and-a-half years, highlighting the impact he has had on the coaching team.

“It’s been a privilege to have Mark as part of our coaching staff. Watching him grow and evolve as a coach has been a real pleasure, and I’m confident he has a bright and successful coaching career ahead of him.”

“We thank him for his dedication and wish him all the best for the future.”

While Adelaide United is disappointed to lose Mark mid-season, the Club wishes him the best in his coaching journey and thanks him for his hard work and dedication during his time with the Club.
