The Lady Reds were unlucky not to get a result in Round 3 of the Westfield W-League, going down 2-1 to Perth Glory at nib Stadium.
With both sides searching for their first points of the season, it was the Lady Reds who shocked the hosts when Racheal Quigley opened the scoring after just two minutes.
Quigley found the back of the net with a stunning overhead kick from 8 metres after Marijana Rajcic held off two defenders before supplying a cross to her team-mate.
Perth pulled level shortly after when Erika Elze converted after a goal mouth scramble. Marianna Tobain drilled a free kick into the box where it ricocheted off a pack of legs allowing Elze to toe-poke home from close range.
Rajcic almost put the Lady Reds back in front after 20 minutes when she rounded Glory keeper Mackenzie Arnold, but she could not direct her shot on target, slamming it into the side netting.
The Glory then grabbed the lead in the 37th minute with Katrina Jukic beating United keeper Kristi Harvey from just inside the area.
Perth-s New Zealand international Emma Kete teed up Jukic after she drew a defender leaving her team-mate with little to do.
The Lady Reds turned in an impressive second half as they searched for an equaliser and were unfortunate not to level the match after numerous chances.
Georgia Macri had claims for a penalty when she latched onto a through ball before colliding with Glory keeper Arnold, while Rajcic also tested the shot stopper from distance.
Ruth Wallace challenged Arnold in the air after a Donna Cockayne corner and collected a yellow card for her efforts, while skipper Abby Erceg was also dangerous from set pieces.
Quigley also peppered Perth-s goal and rattled the cross bar with a quarter-hour remaining, firing a dipping half volley from 20 metres out.
The skilful forward also had another chance tipped over the bar by Arnold before Perth countered in the final minutes with midfielder Elisa D-Ovidio-s claims for a penalty waved away.
