This season will see the launch of the A-League Men’s fantasy, with the corresponding A-League Women’s competitions soon to follow.
The platform gives fans the chance to select and manage a 15-player squad of their own, from either the Isuzu UTE A-League, Liberty A-League or from both.
Once all competitions are up and running, the A-Leagues will be the only national sporting code in the country with standalone official women’s fantasy and tipping games for fans to play.
Given a set budget, you are challenged to select your best 15-player squad. Each player is given a value, but the challenge is to balance stars, up-and-comers, and potential bargains in your team, to create the strongest team possible.
Craig Goodwin’s deadly set piece ability and knack of setting up goals has him as the game’s Number 1, priced at $545,100. Running last season’s stats through the scoring rubric put the winger on top of the league as the highest average points scorer (13.4 per game).
Fellow Red, Javi López, also features in the Top 10 most expensive players, coming in at Number 7. The Spanish full-back who made the most tackles of any player last season (101), is priced at $427,400. With each tackle worth 0.5 points, López’s value to a fantasy squad would have paid off in that statistic alone. He also scored three goals, notched three assists and helped keep seven clean sheets.
Players on your team will then earn points during each round of games. Points can be accrued in several categories, including goals, assists, clean sheets, tackles, key passes, interceptions, clearances and more.
You select your preferred starting XI from your 15-player squad each round, and the points the starting XI score together add up to become your total score for the round.
The ultimate objective is to finish the season with the highest points tally of any fantasy player in the game, or, to join or create mini leagues, and prevail against a select number of players invited to join.
