Adelaide United is delighted to announce defender, Jordan Elsey, has signed a three-year contract extension with the Club.
Elsey’s new deal means he will remain with the Reds until at least the end of the Hyundai A-League 2020/21 season.
The 24-year-old was a revelation during the 2017/18 campaign, after seeing the initial part of his career hampered by injuries.
Under the guidance of Head Coach, Marco Kurz, Elsey featured in all 33 matches across both the league and Westfield FFA Cup and was an unwavering presence in the heart of the Reds’ defence.
The South Australian was also handed the Captain’s armband twice this campaign – first against the Wellington Phoenix in Round 18, then against the Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 27.
Elsey, who also achieved his 50th Hyundai A-League appearance for Adelaide back in Round 23, said he was thrilled to extend his stay in his hometown.
“I’m very happy,” Elsey said. “The Club showed faith in me throughout all my injuries and now I want to repay that faith by playing well for them and being successful together.
“To grow up idolising Adelaide United and now to play for them in front of my friends and family week in week out, it’s something special.

“Me being a younger player, growing into a more experienced player now, I obviously have to step up and become more dominating on the pitch.
“I want to do that and I’m still learning but I’m just excited.
“I’m already missing playing football, so I’m looking forward to getting back with the boys and working hard for success.
“I feel like the Club is going in the right direction and I’m excited to be a part of that.”
Speaking on the re-signing of Elsey, Adelaide United Head Coach, Marco Kurz, said he was thrilled to have secured the young defender for another three seasons.
“I am very happy that we have been able to sign Jordan to a new contract to stay here with us for the next three seasons,” Kurz said. “Jordan impressed us during pre-season and we knew he would be a strong part of our squad.
“The season he had last season was very good and he continued to perform at a high level each week and has earned this reward for his hard work and determination.
“He is an important part of the team on the pitch, but also in the dressing room, and to know he will be with us for the next three seasons is a very good thing for everyone at Adelaide United.”
Since making his debut for the Reds in 2013, Elsey has accumulated a total of 63 appearances for his hometown club, scoring two goals in the process.
