In total, Adelaide will be in Malaysia for eight days, playing one match against local opposition, FA Penang.

The Reds will continue their intense training regime while in Malaysia, utilising the warmer temperatures and humid climate to enhance the team’s fitness levels.

Amor and his side will depart Adelaide on Sunday, heading straight for Kuala Lumpur where the team will train at Multimedia University over four days.

United then travel to Penang on Friday to play first division side, FA Penang, on Saturday night before returning to Adelaide on Tuesday morning.

Adelaide United’s High Performance Manager, Greg King, said the trip will be very beneficial for the squad heading into the new season.

“We weren’t able to go on a pre-season trip like this last season, so it’s pretty exciting,” King said. “The trip is going to be a lot of hard work, though, and the match against Penang that we have lined up will definitely help our preparations.

“Weather-wise, we’re expecting 34-degree temperatures and a fair bit of humidity during those games and it’s going to be similar to what we’ll be dealing with in the A-League season.

“Training in winter and playing in summer here in Australia makes it a bit more difficult, but we’ll have about four tough training sessions in the heat.

“We still need to ensure we have plenty of full, 90-minute games before our guys will be A-League ready, but this trip is certainly going to help with that.”

Henrique, who signed with the Reds on Saturday, will also link-up with his new teammates in Malaysia.
