Adelaide United defender Jordan Elsey says the team is raring to go ahead of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season and FFA Cup 2019 Semi-final.
Elsey said the vibe within the group is strong and that they are all motivated to deliver a successful season.
The 25-year-old added that the team has made great progress in adjusting to new Head Coach Gertjan Verbeek and his philosophy.
“Really positive, I think we have a great group of boys all willing to work hard and work for each other,” the centre-back said at the Club’s Season Launch on Friday night.
“Obviously this is a new coach, new playing style and we are all getting to grips with that and understanding that.
“As Kristian (Opseth) said we want to win, we are hungry to win and we see that in training and it should be an exciting year.”
Elsey also highlighted the benefits of how a deep FFA Cup run can really serve as a catalyst for the league campaign.
Indeed, the reigning FFA Cup winners find themselves in a third consecutive Semi-final appearance as they take on Central Coast Mariners in Gosford on Wednesday night.
“I think if you can play five games and win a trophy it’s a no brainer really,” he continued.
“We take this cup very seriously as we have in the last couple of years and this year is no different.
“We want to win and everyone wants to win a trophy. Some players go their whole career without winning a trophy.”
Adelaide United face Central Coast Mariners in the Semi-finals of the FFA Cup 2019 on Wednesday, 2 October at Central Coast Stadium. Kick-off is at 7.00pm ACST. Live and Exclusive on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.
