Adelaide United is delighted to announce the return of former Red and South Australian, Matilda McNamara on a one-year deal.
The 25-year-old returns to the Club after a stint at Danish side AGF Fodbold.
The centre back has played 33 matches for the Reds over two stints between 2015 and 2022. She made her senior debut for United in December 2015 in a 5-1 win over the Newcastle Jets.
McNamara was called up to the Matildas squad in June 2022 and made her debut for the green and gold in November in a friendly against Thailand.
Matilda told AU Media she is thrilled to be back.
“While I’ve greatly enjoyed my time overseas, I’m excited to rejoin my United family for the upcoming season,” said Matilda
“My experiences over the past few years have made me a more knowledgeable footballer and person, and I’m eager to contribute this value to the team.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started and pushing for a more positive result for the club and team this season.”
Head of Football, Marius Zanin, welcomed Matilda back to the Club.
“It is fantastic to welcome Matilda back to Coopers Stadium, said Zanin.
“Bringing Matilda home is key to the way we want to play this season.
“We know she’ll add a wealth of experience to the team, but at the same time, we look forward to seeing her continue to develop in Red.”
Matilda will join up with the Reds when preseason commences in September.
