Following the announcement of Alex Chidiac’s re-signing with Adelaide United Women, SA Power Networks General Manager of Customer Relations, Sue-Ann Charlton, said the company is delighted to continue their support of the team for the Westfield W-League 2017/18 season.

It is the second consecutive year SA Power Networks have supported AUFC Women, with the corporation’s logo again appearing as the shirt-front sponsor.

“We’re very excited, and something we really think it’s important to support all aspects of sport in this state,” Charlton said at SA Power Networks’ Head Office in Keswick.

“To see the success the Matildas had overseas it’s really exciting time for women’s football.”

Charlton was hopeful the Reds will enjoy a successful season as they look to secure an inaugural finals appearance in the competition.

“Everyone will be watching Alex (Chidiac) off the back off what’s happened overseas recently,” she said.

“And obviously new coach and a new energy around the side so it’s a really great opportunity to be involved.”

Charlton said it was really positive to be associated with a growing sport that already has a global presence.

“I think women’s sport in all its incarnations is getting noticed now more than ever before,” she continued.

“And I think for us it’s a really great time to get involved in a sport that perhaps hasn’t had as much focus on it in the past.

“But clearly has a huge following overseas and has been really successful, so far us to get in at this level is fantastic.”
