Stenta: “Dylan embodies what this club is all about”

Adelaide United are back at Coopers Stadium this Good Friday to take on Sydney FC in the final game of the regular season. With a home final already secured, the Reds are aiming to maintain form and build momentum ahead of their post-season campaign.

Stenta on the win over Western United and his first coaching victory in Victoria…
“I thought it was one of our more consistent performances across 90 minutes. We had a little flat spot toward the middle and end of the first half, but the players came out and performed really strongly. It was a great start, which has been a real positive for us this year. I think we managed the game really well and it was a good win against a strong Western side who we really respect.”

Stenta on squad health and selection options…
“We’ll bring Sian and Erin back into the squad of 18 this week, and if they get through training, they’ll be available for selection. Chelsie is probably just another week away—she hasn’t been able to get enough workload into her on the training track. We just want to make sure that when Chelsie’s back, she’s back for good.”

Stenta on taking on Sydney at Coopers Stadium…
“There’s plenty on the line for us. We want to continue our momentum and get a good win at home to carry into the postseason. We’ve lost quite a few games to Sydney over the years, so it would be nice to get a couple back. Our focus and motto has been the same all year: put ourselves in a position where we’ve got a good chance to win the game. That won’t change on Friday.”

Stenta on Dylan Holmes’ 100th match for the Club…
“Dylan probably epitomises everything that this club stands for and what our team values. She’s a fantastic person and a great presence in the group. Former captain, still part of our leadership team—she started playing in the W-League when there were only eight to ten games a season, so to reach 100 games, especially with time spent overseas, is just reward for her work and effort. I couldn’t be prouder of her.”

Stenta on a special moment from Izzy for Dylan with a tribute video…
“This group is fantastic in the way they rally around and support each other. I was really happy to share that video Izzy put together with the group before the match. It was a nice moment, and the players took it upon themselves to create something special. It speaks volumes about their connection and the culture we’ve built here.”

Stenta on the home final and call to fans…
“We want to break a record and set our highest-ever attendance for a standalone game at Coopers. That starts with tomorrow. We’d love to see a big crowd at 4:20pm to watch what we think will be a great game against Sydney—really attacking and free-flowing. Hopefully we put on a good show, and those fans return the following Sunday for our final. We love this venue, we love our fans, and we want as many of them here as possible.”
