Adelaide United can today announce the departure of Japanese striker, Hiroshi Ibusuki.
Hiroshi departs the Reds after a memorable three seasons, in which he scored 30 goals in 74 matches, placing him fourth in the Club’s all-time record goalscoring chart.
Hiroshi took home the Club UCAN A-League Men’s Golden Boot this season with 15 goals and was also voted A-League Men Player’s Player by his peers at the Alagich Vidmar 2024 Awards last night.
After the striker’s contract was due to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season, the Club explored the opportunity for Hiroshi to remain at Adelaide United.
However, both parties have agreed to mutually part ways at this stage of his career to allow Hiroshi and his family to pursue a longer term opportunity, which is a decision the Club wholeheartedly supports.
The 32-year-old expressed his gratitude and thanks to the fans, in what was a difficult decision for the striker to take.
“These past three years have been filled with unforgettable memories and support that has made me and my family feel truly loved,” said Hiroshi.
“Thank you for embracing us and making this place feel like home.
“Though I may be moving on, the bond we’ve formed will forever remain in my heart.
“Farewell and may our paths cross again someday.”Speaking on Hiroshi’s departure, Head Coach, Carl Veart, said:
“Hiroshi is a popular character in the dressing room and brought a lot of happiness to the playing group.
“He always gave 100% and we appreciate his efforts during his time with us.
“I wish him well in the next chapter of his career.”
The Club would like to thank Hiroshi for the many memories during his time as a Red and wish the best for him and his family.
