Tsiounis: “The energy is fantastic”

Adelaide United Head Coach Theo Tsiounis says his side continues to take positive steps forward ahead of Friday night’s clash with Canberra United at ServiceFM Stadium.

Tsiounis on preparations and training this week…
“It’s been an enjoyable week on the track. The girls have brought a lot of energy, and once again we’ve been working on our processes and trying to bring our game model to life. We’re really looking forward to Canberra tomorrow night.”
Tsiounis on Canberra United
“They’ve done well over the years and are pretty versatile in how they play. They can vary their style and change things quickly, but for us, the focus is on how we approach the game. We’ve got a plan we want to execute and see how well we can bring that to life.”
Tsiounis on the draw against Sydney FC
“We controlled most of the game, whether it was on or off the ball, which was really promising to see. It’s now about managing key moments a little better – taking our chances in the attacking third and nullifying opportunities a bit quicker defensively. There were a lot of positives, and the girls are improving week by week.”
Tsiounis on team culture and togetherness
“The togetherness in the group has been fantastic. In football, you always have ups and downs, so it’s important to have a strong foundation. Whether someone is playing or not, everyone gets around each other and keeps pushing in the same direction. You can feel that energy within the group.”
Tsiounis on returning players
“Chelsie Dawber and Fiona Worts will have a part to play, similar to last week. They’re building fitness and will play a bigger role after the short break. Katie Bowler is progressing really well and looks fantastic at training, while Lara Gooch is still in the early stages of recovery. The upcoming break will help them all get closer to full fitness.”
Tsiounis on home support at Gepps Cross
“It’s a great little hub here at ServiceFM Stadium. The more noise the crowd makes, the more it drives the players – it really gives them that extra gear. We want everyone to come out and get behind the girls again this weekend.”
