Adelaide United return to Coopers Stadium this Sunday for the Club’s first double header of the 2025/26 season, with the Ninja A-League Women hosting Brisbane Roar at 4.20pm before the Isuzu UTE A-League Men face the Roar at 7.05pm.
Both squads enter the fixture with a strong sense of belief and togetherness, echoing similar messages ahead of an important day for the Club.
Reds defender Matilda McNamara says the extended international break came at the perfect time for Adelaide’s A-League Women, allowing the squad to reset, refresh, and regain key players.
“It was a weird time in the season to have three weeks off, but we made the most of it,” McNamara said. “We trained hard, regrouped, and shifted all our focus to Brisbane this week.”
With several players returning from injury, she believes the squad is now better placed to attack a busy upcoming period.
“You can see how thick our squad is this year. Fiona’s [Worts] back, Chelsie’s [Dawber] fit, and Lara Gooch is close. Everyone is match fit and has something to add. We’re getting into great positions – once a few of those big chances drop, we’ll score a lot of goals.”
Dutch defender Bart Vriends says the A-League Men are determined to respond after a disappointing trip to Wellington, but believes the team’s strong home form will be a major factor on Sunday night.
“At home we’ve been incredibly strong,” Vriends said. “We’ve played some unbelievable football and entertained the fans. We want to continue that on Sunday.”
He echoed McNamara’s confidence in the depth and competitive energy within the squad.
“There’s real quality and competition in training. Everyone is pushing for spots, and that lifts the whole team. We know what we’re capable of — we just need to replicate that level every week.”
With both teams embracing the belief, freshness and squad depth driving their seasons forward, Sunday’s double header marks an opportunity to build momentum on home soil.
