Adelaide United is pleased to announce it has signed defensive utility, Ella Tonkin, for the upcoming Westfield W-League 2020/21 season.
Tonkin made her Reds debut last season as a late substitute away to Canberra United and is an extremely versatile player that can operate anywhere across the defence and as a holding midfielder.
She scored three goals in 14 appearances with Football SA NTC in the local Women’s National Premier League (WNPL) season this year.
Speaking on signing with the Club, Tonkin said: “I’m extremely happy to be at Adelaide United.
“I could barely sleep the night before I knew I was signing my contract because I was so excited about it.
“As a team, a big goal of ours is definitely to make finals, but personally I want to get some more W-League games under my belt and build myself as a player.”
Adelaide United’s Westfield W-League Head Coach, Adrian Stenta, said: “It’s fantastic to have Ella on board for the new season.
“Ella made her W-League debut last season, so she has had a taste of what is required to play at this level.
“She impressed again in the WNPL this year with the NTC and we believe Ella has the attributes to progress and be successful in this league.”
Adelaide United’s Head of Women’s Football, Ivan Karlović, said: “Ella’s addition further strengthens the depth in our defence and midfield and is someone that will continue to improve by training in an elite environment.”
