Veart: Consistency has been crucial

Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, says the Reds’ recent purple patch of form has been down to consistency.

United’s current eight-game unbeaten run stems all the way back to 7 January, Veart’s side rocketing up to equal second on the ladder in that time.

Secret to recent successes:
“I think we’ve been a lot more consistent (recently) than what we were in the beginning of the season.

“And the boys have just been working hard.

“I’ve said a numerous occasions now, in the last two months, training has been excellent and that’s led to the form in the the games.

“That’s what happens sometimes in football.

“Sometimes you can go and do everything right and not score and sometimes things fall your way.

“But the boys, as I’ve said, have been training very well and implementing the plans that we’ve set them.”

Talk of… Champions?:
“There’s still seven games to go, so there’s still a lot of work for us to do.

“The league is still very, very tight, everyone’s still jostling for their position, so it’s important that we just concentrate on ourselves and just concentrate on doing the same work that we’ve been doing over the last few weeks.

“In the form that we showed on Friday night against Melbourne City, yes, we could possibly go all the way, but, as I said, there’s still seven games to go and there’s a lot of work for us to do and we’re still not guaranteed a spot in the Finals.”

‘Intertesting’ Jets:
“They’re an interesting side.

“They play some good football and they’re a little bit inconsistent at the moment, but their season is getting close to being on the line.

“So they’re going to come at us with everything they’ve got because if they lose this week, that could put them out of the six by a fair way.

“It’s important for us that we recognise that and be aware that the start of the game could be at quite a high pace.”
