Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, praised second-half substitute, Nestory Irankunda, for his late heroics to help secure three points for the Reds on Saturday night.
Irankunda’s thunderous effort put United up 2-1, after Louis D’Arrigo’s first half opener was cancelled out by a scrappy Brisbane Roar equaliser.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Veart highlighted the raw attributes that make the 16-year-old so electric, but grounding in the progress Irankunda still needs to make to reach his potential.
Veart said:
“This is the talent that Nestor has.
“It’s just a matter of keeping working with him so he understands what it takes to be able to get into this positions to do those bits of magic that he does.
“He needs to, and he knows (this), that he has other parts of his game that he needs to focus on as well.
“The power and the speed that he has, you can’t stop that.
“It’s a matter of getting him to understand that he needs to be switched on and working hard for every minute that he’s on the pitch.”
