Veart: We entertain, but need to tighten up

Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, admitted he is content with his side’s performance against Perth Glory on Sunday afternoon, however highlighted the need to tighten up defensively.

Veart’s Reds have been involved in two 4-4 draws this campaign – a rather ridiculous feat. And whilst United’s boss is happy to see his side scoring freely, Veart is less enthused about the nature of the goals his team concedes.

Veart said:
“I’m a little disappointed to score four goals away from home and come away with a point.

“We created numerous attempts at goal that, maybe, we should have a few more (goals).

“But we showed great resilience to concede a goal in the 95th (minute) and get one back again.

“I’m very proud of (the playing group) to go back and get that equaliser because a lot teams could have fallen over after that.

“That’s our second four-all draw this year and, I suppose, the difference (between the two games) is that we got the point at the end, not given it away.

“It’s the type of football that we play that makes it become a bit of an open game and we’re happy with that.

“It’s the way we want to play and we want to play entertaining football and I’m sure everyone that (came to the game) went away and enjoyed the game.

“That’s what we want to do.

“We want to put on a good performance and I thought we, for the majority of it, we did, we just need to tighten up our defence at times.”
