Adelaide United head coach Carl Veart fronted the media ahead of Sunday night’s crucial game against Wellington Phoenix.
Carl on facing a tough trip to Wellington:
“They’re a very good side and they play some good football. We’re going there with the aim to win and put them under a little bit of pressure. It’s going to be a good game. Hopefully, it’s a good game for us where we can secure the three points.”
Carl on the potential return of Hiroshi:
“Hiroshi has done what we need him to do to be available for this week. So, he will definitely be traveling with us. We’ll see how the players pull up from the travel tomorrow during the training session in Wellington, and then we’ll determine the starting line-up from there.”
Carl on having the confidence to go on a winning run:
“I don’t think our football has been that bad. We just need to start rewarding our efforts. We have been playing some good football; we just haven’t been picking up the points. That’s something we need to change. Starting this week, we have to go there and not lose, simple as that. Hopefully, that brings a little bit more confidence to the playing group. From there, we can go on a run, as we’ve shown previously that we can do.”
Carl on the morale within the camp:
“The morale is very good. I think you saw that in the game last week. Even when we went down to 10 men, the pressure and work ethic of the players showed. If you don’t have that strong togetherness, teams falter. We haven’t done that; we will keep fighting, and that’s all we can expect from this group.”
Carl on one eye on next season:
“We’re definitely a long way down the road in what we’re planning for next season. We’re always looking ahead. We’re very comfortable where we are, where I’m at. Yes, the results are going well this year for us, but we still have belief that we can still get something out of this season.”
