Adelaide United Assistant Coach, Mark Milligan, spoke to Paramount+ directly after the Reds 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory in Round 12 of the Isuzu UTE A-League season.
In the ‘hot seat’ for the first time, due to Carl Veart’s absence through illness, Milligan discussed the match with Channel 10 and Paramount+’s Max Burford.
Dissecting the 90:
“Especially after the day that the boys have had, we had a tough week last week as well, it’s not a bad performance.
“The boys worked hard (and), overall, I can’t fault the boys’ effort.
“The boys that came on, I thought they were fantastic and they did what we needed them to do and made an impact on the game.
“It’s definitely a better performance and we showed a lot better intent and intensity tonight than we did last week.
“At home, against Victory, regardless of what the table says, they’re a quality side.
“We’d have liked the three points, but we just didn’t create enough to win the game.”
Taking the reins:
“It’s unsettling, as much as we want to say it doesn’t have an affect on the team, the players would prefer Carl here.
“It’s definitely different than sitting back and ‘thinking’ I’m giving good advice (compared to) actually making the decisions, but I enjoyed it.
“I’m only able to have done this because of the environment that we’re in here at Adelaide and that was created a long time before I got here.”
